All civi mail sends except for membership expiration reminders
July 23, 2014, 10:32:48 am
I have a Drupal 6 site with civicrm 2.2.8. A reminder is supposed to send out every two weeks to remind members that there account will expire soon. This starts 4 weeks before there account is going to expire and will last until 2 weeks after the account expires.

All mail is set to send via mandrill. Seems like membership sign ups are sending out but the reminders are not making it to mandrill. In other words civi is not mailing them.

"Update Membership Statuses and Send Renewal Reminders" is enabled and set to run with the daily cron. The cron runs without error and running the cron manually has no errors as well.

Under the job logs it is updating memberships but always sends 0 renewal reminders. Despite being set to daily it has day gaps in it (I know cron is running daily because I get the output as an email). I am guessing that this job is failing and quitting without logging any errors.

CiviCRM 2.2.8 is quite old and the best would be to upgrade. If that's not feasible immediately, then perhaps see this post:

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=13281.0

as it may be relevant.

Can you execute this one job manually via the web interface?

Beyond that, the next step would be debug the code, but that's sort of silly when the newer code has all kinds of known bug fixes....

Yes they will run without errors. Memberships do update but mail is never sent.

The site is on Drupal 6. What is the most recent version of civi that supports Drupal 6?

Sending CiviMail and CiviMember membership reminders are completely different technical systems within Civi.  There's such a thing as software security bulletins and updates to keep you safe from hacking.  4.2.17 or 4.4.6 are good bets.  Both support Drupal 6.
