Hey everyone,

I'm Kathleen, Web & Digital Marketing Officer for The Vegan Society, an educational charity based in Birmingham - vegansociety.com

We are changing our database and website to use CiviCRM and Drupal, both of which are new to me; so I've been finding the meetups incredibly useful. I attended the Manchester one earlier this week - thank you everyone who was there!

We will have a supplier who will be implementing and supporting the system for us, but I'd like to learn as much as I can about it myself.

I'm really excited about CiviCRM.

I want to start a Birmingham CiviCRM meet. Is anyone here in, or near, Birmingham and interested in meeting up? Or do you know someone who is? I love the model of developers, administrators and users meeting together to learn from each other's experience and knowledge.

You can add me to your LinkedIn network from my public profile at linkedin.com/in/inspirewithhope or follow me on twitter at twitter.com/inspirewithhope

Looking forward to meeting you!

Kathleen Bright (LiLi)
Web & Digital Marketing Officer
The Vegan Society

Hi Kathlees - that sounds awesome and Birmingham is a great place to have a meet up - very easy for people to get to.

We are trying to make it as easy as possible for people to start meet ups. Have a look at this page: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Meet+up+infrastructure.

I'd be happy to support you doing this in any way - feel free to get in contact.  I'm out of the UK for the next 4 weeks but would love to come along to one of your meet ups at some point.

Thank you Michael!

Jamie Novick had pointed me to the meetup toolkit, but I hadn't seen the meetup infrastructure page. Useful, cheers.

Thank you for the offer of support; I'll take you up on that!

Hi, I would be interested in a Birmingham meet.  I'm in Derby and presently working on a couple of installs of CiviCRM for charities in the West Midlands.

Yes, I can make that.  By the way, I am picking up projects from IT4Communities.org.uk and doing them on a voluntary basis.  I installed Civi about a year ago and liked it so much I just look for Civi projects now!  See you there - I will be early as I'm in Brum that afternoon.

Awesome! I'll aim to be early too.

Michael, would you be able to add the CiviCRM Birmingham Meet to http://civicrm.org/civi-upcoming-events?

UK Phone Number Validator Extension
October 30, 2013, 08:46:20 am
Just raising awareness of an extension that might be of use to UK users: the UK Phone Number Validator (should be available through your extensions dashboard, links from the forum aren't allowed).

This pulls invalid UK numbers from your database and provides an interface for you to clean them up nicely.

Over time is the intent for it to allow automated cleaning as well.
If you like empowering charities in a free and open way, then you're going to love Civi.

Hi, I've installed the UK phone number validator and... well done - good stuff.  Of course, as soon as you see something like this you think of some feature that you'd like!  Obviously, validation as you enter the phone data would be good as well.  But really, it's a very useful piece of work, thanks.
