Newsletter management in Joomla frontend
February 15, 2009, 12:33:10 pm
Hi all,

I'm new to Civicrm. I need some guidance setting up a way to manage newsletter subscribers in the Joomla frontend. I want a form where anyone (a guest) can subscribe/unsubscribe to various newsletters.

Can I accomplish this by using profiles?

I bet someone has done this before me. How did you do it?

Best regards,
Nils

yes. you can add a contact to a group via profile. Check the "advanced settings" in profile. Once you have that working in the backend, you can expose that profile to the front end

you can also expose a set of checkboxes for multiple "groups" - each group being a newsletter subscription

info on linking profile forms in joomla front-end is here:

Hi lobo,

I'm still scratching my head on this one. I have successfully created a profile to add a user to one group by selecting the group in the advanced settings of the profile.

How do I add checkboxes so a user can select multiple groups?

I'm very thankful for your help.
Nils

Ah, I found this: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=5586.0

I also had missed to set the groups to public user pages.

Cheers!
