Quickbooks integration for civiCRM?
May 06, 2009, 10:08:32 am
Hi I've googled and found a few mentions of Quickbooks integration and exporting data into quickbooks but found mostly that there is no integration with Quickbooks other than CSV files for export.

Is this still the case, no direct Quickbooks integration?  Just checking.

no QB integration as yet

BUT this is a much needed addition and would be a great contribiution. The ubercart folks were looking at it, so there might be some module/code there you can reuse and retrofit for civicrm

How about using the talend Quickbooks connector?

About 6 weeks ago we started looking into a CiviCRM -> QB integration framework.  After an exhaustive search, we found the PHP framework by Keith Palmer to be the best fit for our needs:

http://www.consolibyte.com/wiki/doku.php/quickbooks_integration_php_consolibyte

It's being actively developed and supported by a handful of programmers who are also using the framework in production environments.  That's an important yet subtle concept... they are using and supporting it in production environments.

The first thing we noticed is that there were no tests written for it.  So we built out all the Object tests (~1800) using PHPUnit and contributed those back to the project.  Writing tests for the framework gave us confidence to move forward.

We're still in the scoping/requirements/use-case phase and without funding it's a low priority for us.  Please contact us if you're interested in funding a CiviCRM/QuickBooks integration.

You might want to post a quick blog on this project. Might bring a bunch of folks out of the woodwork to help fund, since this has come up as an important "need" quite often.
