Find contacts does not display search fields
July 22, 2009, 04:28:02 pm
Hi Folks,

I have a production site using Drupal 6.x and CiviCRM 2.2.7.

When I click on the Finds Contacts menu entry I see only the Heading Find Contacts but no fields to be completed to effect the search.  If I enter Advanced Search I get the following error "showBlocks array item not in .tpl = searchForm_hide".  When I try to display the settings entry in any profile I get no display.

I will do some further research but if in the meantime someone  can give me a clue as to where I can start to look I would appreciate the help.

Regards
Martin Fuggle

I am having other issues and I think they are all linked to the fact that when I try to access Profile Settings I get no display other than the header and footer for the page.  I think if I can solve that issue then this might be a consequential effect.  I have posted the Profile Settings issue on the Profiles Forum at http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,9000.0.html

Underneath the text "Profile Group - Group Name" I expect to see a whole heap of stuff called CiviCRM Profile with the Profile name, Used For and Advanced Settings.

I don't see the CiviCRM Profile box at all...

Hmmm - I am not sure how I have caused the issue to be double posted and certainly don't wish to waste anyone's time.

I have obviously done something that was not intended.

Sorry for the trouble

The page source shows the following:
Code: [Select]
<!-- .tpl file invoked: CRM/Contact/Form/Search/Basic.tpl. Call via form.tpl if we have a form in the page. -->
    <form  action="/harlequins/civicrm/contact/search" method="post" name="Basic" id="Basic" >

<input name="_qf_default" type="hidden" value="Basic:refresh" />
</div>
<div id="searchForm">
    </div>
    <div class="spacer">&nbsp;</div>
</form>

The fields and their drop down contents are not being created for display in the web page.

Does this additional information help find a solution?

Cheers

I don't recall seeing this type of behavior before. What's the history of this site? Is this a new problem subsequent to some change (moved site? upgrade to CiviCRM or Drupal? ??).

Have you checked the CiviCRM.log file (in your configured Upload Directory) or your webserver logs for errors.

I upgraded to 2.2.7 on 17th June on both a local test site in a Wampserver environment and then upgraded the live site which is on a shared server.  I did not see this issue in either the test or live sites since I subsequently made changes to profiles and groups where I am now seeing issues in the live site.

The problem is showing on the following:
  • Find Contacts
  • New Group
  • New Profile
  • Advanced Search - where I see the following error "showBlocks array item not in .tpl = searchForm_hide"

I have moved the CiviCRM module from the test site where I do not see the problem to the live site where I do see the problem with the same CiviCRM module and database.

In both the live and test sites I see the following issue which may or may not be related.  When I display for example CIVICRM Profiles each site displays the block of text at the heading of the page for a moment and it then disappears.  I can get it to display if I change the Browser URL from say quins.com.au to www.quins.com.au.  I have found posts on a similar issue and have checked to ensure that all path names are consistent with and without the www.  I have tended to leave this issue at the moment because it is of secondary importance but nevertheless unresolved.

It's got me quite concerned since I cannot see any logic to this issue.

Cheers

I have moved the CiviCRM module from the test site where I do not see the problem to the live site where I do see the problem with the same CiviCRM module and database.

This problem is now resolved.  It was caused by moving Drupal/CiviCRM from the Test to the Live environment and failing to delete the file ~/sites/default/files/civicrm/upload/Config.IDS.ini as specified in the following http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

Once that file was deleted and automatically rebuilt in the new environment the issue was resolved.

It sounds like either this value in civicrm.settings.php is set to use http://www.quins.com.au
Code: [Select]
define( 'CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL'  , 'http://localhost/dgg/drupal69/' );

and / or your Resource URL is set that way (Administer CiviCRM >> Global Settings >> Resource URLs).

Since your Drupal site is using http://quins.com.au - I think you need to modify CiviCRM settings to match (or make some mods to your web server config - there are some posts about redirects on this forum).

It sounds like either this value in civicrm.settings.php is set to use http://www.quins.com.au
Code: [Select]
define( 'CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL'  , 'http://localhost/dgg/drupal69/' );
and / or your Resource URL is set that way (Administer CiviCRM >> Global Settings >> Resource URLs).

Since your Drupal site is using http://quins.com.au - I think you need to modify CiviCRM settings to match (or make some mods to your web server config - there are some posts about redirects on this forum).

I have thoroughly checked all URL settings.  They are as follows:
CiviCRM Settings
 define( 'CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL'  , 'http://quins.com.au/harlequins/' );
 New Base URL: http://quins.com.au/harlequins/ (Setting in Update Directroy Path and URL)
Drupal Settings
 $base_url = 'http://quins.com.au/harlequins';  // NO trailing slash!

There is a redirect in the webroot as follows:
Code: [Select]
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN">
<html>
<head>
<META http-equiv = "refresh" content = "0; URL = harlequins">
</html>

I have cleared all caches. I use a browser URL of http://quins.com.au.  I still see the issue on CivCRM Profiles (for example) where the text instructions display and then disappear.  If I then change the browser URL on the CiviCRM Profiles page to www.quins.com.au it then correctly displays the text instructions.

I just can't see where I am going wrong.

Yes - I had run that and set the URL as stated in my previous post.
