New theme broke javascript in CiviCRM
April 15, 2010, 06:48:55 pm
I just installed a new theme (a Fusion theme) and it seems to have broken all the CiviCRM javascript.

I already deleted the files in the directory [yoursite]/sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c/

Other ideas?

There might be some conflict with your theme and CiviCRM. It's hard for us to support all themes. It would be great if you can submit the patch to fix this problem.

Thanks
Kurund

What I would suggest is to post the precise error, if you can. Using Firebug for Firefox you can see the error or even using IE if you double click on the error icon in the bottom left of the browser you should be able to view the details of the error.

One idea is to disable all other modules to see if perhaps a module is causing the error.

Thanks, here's the error:

/sites/default/files/js/js_ebb3fca214e40a7216c1857b731adb55.js:8266Uncaught TypeError: Object # has no method 'superfish'
/sites/default/files/js/js_ebb3fca214e40a7216c1857b731adb55.js:8343Uncaught TypeError: Object # has no method 'corner'

I don't think it's a module--works great when I switch it back to the old theme! It just doesn't like the new theme.

Any insight from these errors?  (Way over my head!)

I was using the Pixture Reloaded theme for a while when I first started with Civicrm and was getting all kinds of errors. I finally went back to Garland and the problems went away. I am now using Wilderness and seems to be working properly.

It would have been useful to have a list somewhere here of themes and modules that are causing problems. It might have saved me and many others a lot of headaches.

try deleting the diretories:

/sites/default/files/js
/sites/default/files/css

and see if that fixes things

YMNathaniel, my guess is that your original post was correct--there may be a JS error in the theme. I would suggest (aside from what lobo wrote above) one or both of these options:

1. Create an issue in the project on drupal.org for that theme
2. Consider hiring a developer to debug and fix the JS error if you need to use this theme

Thanks Logo, that didn't seem to do it.

It's a premium theme. Now that we've run through the basics I'm anticipating they will provide a patch. Will keep you posted.

It has to do with using Superfish. See my post: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,12912.0.html
