I need really HELP with CiviMail Bounce Type Management!

Good Morning,
I need real HELP from CiviCRM Community.

I sent almost 1000 bulk mail and I've got only 11 successfully received and other 989 gone in bounce and account in "on_hold". I tested several times.

I got for ALL contats in bounce:
bounce type = Invalid
bounce reason = Unknown bounce type: Could not parse bounce email.


I've got this problem using several smtp server and account, like gmail and webfaction.

HELP.. please!
I need desperate help! :(

How can I manage this problem?

You need to check what the reason for the bounce was – check the account the bounces arrived to. You can also check the logs of your mailserver and contact your hosting to see what was the reason behind the bounces.

Hi,
I have done all you required. I done several tests using several smpt server and mail account, using my webfaction smtp account and GMAIL account from my Google Apps account. I've got same results.

So I can Suppose that is a CiviMail Problem.

I have introduced CiviCRM for Job, and I sent only 2 newsletter at moment, I sent the first without problems, the with this great problem.

When I sent fist newsletter I used CiviCRM 3.0.3, for the Second I used CiviCRM 3.0.4.  Maybe somethings changed.

Suggest you to upgrade at CiviCRM 3.1 beta 6 ?
Or have you any suggestions?

There is a change in the EZY mail component between 3.0.3 & 3.0.4. You could try deleting this folder (out of packages) and replacing it with the one from 3.0.3 (but make sure you test thoroughly & revert back if it doesn't fix it)

I have a question...
In CiviCRM 3.1 beta6 ...CiviMail have EZY mail equal at version in CiviCRM 3.0.4 ?

If it is recent I can try to install beta version of CiviCRM.

Yes - 3.1 is using the same version as 3.0.4. It should be a better version and fixes a known gmail bug. However, since it has changed and it has stopped working for you I would test whether the 3.0.3 version is for some reason better for you before upgrading. If it is then we would still need to figure out why.

I found this path     /civicrm/packages/ezc/
it is the package that I have to change with previously version (ezc)?

Hi,
I tried with ezc from CiviCRM 3.0.3.. it doesn't fix the problem :S

I tried using 2 test wrong email, first is previously used, second is new.

I've got same bounce invalid problem

   Invalid   Unknown bounce type: Could not parse bounce email

I'm sad! I don't know what is the real problem!

For test I use also a Valid email. It is a gmail.

I send bulk mailing at a group with this valid mail and a wrong mail...

I don't know.. but when i tried to send mailing at 1000 email.. I've got only 11 successfully the others with bounce Invalid   Unknown bounce type: Could not parse bounce email.

After, I removed 11 email that received bulk mailing and I sent newly. So I've got... 4 succefully and others bounce Invalid   Unknown bounce type: Could not parse bounce email.

Maybe This is a problem of CiviMail... also because all bounce are tracked at the moment of civimail.cronjob.

This rate (3-11 successful deliveries *every* delivery attempt, no matter what the target addresses are) most probably means that your hosting has some throttling limit preventing bulk mailings (so that their users cannot easily spam).

You can (a) ask your hosting provider whether there are any limits (and what they are) and/or (b) go to Administer → Administration Console → CiviMail → Mailer Settings (or visit the …civicrm/admin/mail address) and set a low Mailer Batch Limit (ideally, one that you obtained from your hosting).

Hi,
I have already talked with my smtp host, when I sent my First news letter.

My Limit is today 10.000 email per day.

I sent only 1000 email... so, it isn't the real problem!

Hi,
I done a new test.

I have installed CiviCRM 3.0.3 and I have used a Group with two emails: first is valid email from gmail, second is ad invalid email.

I sent mailing using this group.

I've got that CiviMail in CiviCRM 3.0.3 have sent email at all emails group without immidiatly return bounce.

When I've execut civimailprocessor this have found a mail delivery notification and it returns bounce... but ONLY after received Mail Delivery Notification.

Bounce type was Invalid   Unknown bounce type: Could not parse bounce email

This is a different response about bounce!.. In CiviCRM 3.0.4 I receive a bouce response before the arrive of mail notification, in 3.0.4 system don't send email and track immidiatly bounce invalid.

This confirm that CiviCRM 3.0.4 have some different and not good way to process mailing.

I will test sending at 1000 emails.

Hi,
I sent bulk mailing at all my contacts (They are 978), with a throttle of 500, I've got that ALL emails was sent correctly and.. AFTER when my crontab start civimailprocessor I received for first set (500 contacts) 12 bounce and 2 reply, for second set (478 contacts) I received 27 bounce.

In this way everything is working properly.
And for ALL bounce I have received several bounce reason by Mail Delivery Notification.

This is GOOD for CiviCRM 3.0.3.

In CiviCRM 3.0.4 everything don't work properly. because I receive bounce "Immidiatly", in this way CiviMail don't send emails and there isn't any Mail Delivery Notification... but only bounce with equal bounce reason.

I hope that my test, my work, can help you to get better patch or a better release CiviCRM 3.0.5 :-)

I was forced to return to the previous version (3.0.3) to get a system working properly.

most likely your smtp processor is rejecting the email on the initial handshake. you might want to turn smtp debugging on and figure out what is happening and why. alternatively you can check your smtp log files
