Hi,

I'm getting mad about one thing on my new installation.
I tried 3 brand new installations Drupal+CiviCRM and still is not working.
If a new user go to the site, try to register all the process go well. It's added to contacts on CiviCRM and to users on Drupal but..don't sent the email confirming the new account to the user with the auto-generated password and so on. Later, if the user ask for a: Forgot Password...then...YES...it send the email ?!?!?!?!

I tried Drupal alone and works... when I put CiviCRM...no way.
Of course I test the emails going out from Drupal and CiviCRM and works well...
I don't know where to look... if somebody is so kind to give me some idea....
The versions: Drupal 6.15 and Civic: civicrm-3.1.1-drupal.tar.gz

IMO account confirmation email is sent by Drupal and not CiviCRM.

Can you give exact steps to replicate this.

Hi,
Thank you for your quick answer.

1.- Install Drupal 6.15
2.- Configure Drupal for sending an email to the new users with the information for login (verify the email address)
3.- Register as a new user. -> Drupal send an email to the user telling: your login is..blah... and your pass is DJFHDDKSj
4.- The user can login without problems.
5.- Install CiviCRM 3.1.1 and configure the basics...or not. Even without touching the config doesn't work.
6.- Try to make the same. New user -> The user is created in Drupal __and__ on CiviCRM. Everything is OK...just...the user doesn't receive any email and cannot login because he doesn't have the password!
7.- If you say: I forgot the password, please resend me on...that works! Drupal send the email with the new activation.

This config has been tested 3 times from 0.

I have problem with this as well.
Using CiviCRM 3.1.1:

The problem seems to be using the civi profile registration form:

With the Civi profile registration form enabled:
Create a new user and select: Notify user of new account
In my case additionally: If you select an extra role (besides "authenticated")  this role becomes deselected.

When the Civi profile registration form is DE-SELECTED,
Everything functions normally. The mail is sent and the selected Roles are preserved.

I think this is a bug for 3.1.1.
I will install 3.1.2 and recheck. If the the bug is there as well I will fiel an issue.

I have also encountered the same problem. It appears that no emails are sent out at all when a new user registers.  I have also added an additional module to notify the administrator of a site when a new user registers (User Register Notify), but this mechanism fails when a new user registers.   However, both emails (the module and the user activation email) work when I go through a profile's "Require account creation" option.

I also noted a separate issue, which may or may not be related, that changing the "require administrator approval" option under "User Settings" has no effect and the user is never blocked after they register.  In addition, another possibly-related issue is that no message appears after registration (that I believe would normally say "You account has been created.  An email has been sent to your email address containing details of activation...").

Is this a bug with the new CiviCRM implementation?  (It definitely did not happen before)

Just an update to the bug. I confirm that 3.1.2 doesn't work neither... I repeat all steps explained below with the new version and still the emails are not sent.

On Jira there's already a fix wich will be included in 3.1.3.
It is in Quality Control now. You can download and try it. (On your own risk - ofcourse  :D)
I patched my file and now everything works OK.
I think though bcobin still has some other issues.

Be careful here - I'm fairly certain the "fix" is only a partial one. While emails will, indeed, now be sent out, the exposed profile information isn't saved to Civi. So having the profile information exposed is worse than useless in this case, because the user will think he/she's submitted the data, when it never gets into the system!

Additionally, enabling View/Edit for the profile breaks the Drupal user account page. See below, which I've posted to the tracking report.

So I would say that the registration process is still broken when it comes to profiles. Not quite soup yet...
